Sunday started with the woman’s heat being greeted by head to logo high sets. Tatiana Howard (Maui) was first followed by Miho Tanaka (Japan) then Katie McAnena (Ireland) in third. Sam Bittner (Maui) came in fourth and Carolina Butrich (Peru) in 5th. When the men took the water we started with heat 10 in the second round. There were many long wave rides, but Kevin Pritchard was on fire taking the lead.
Heat 11 featured Diony Guadagnino, Jad Ghosn, Ricardo Guglielmino and Nicolas Schreier. Nicolas won the heat. Diony and Ricardo were close but Ricardo was saved by the last wave with multiple epic aerials.
Heat 12 featured Tato Malina, Oscar Cisneros, Tom Juban, and Francisco Goya. The heat was not so windy but the waves were coming in strong. Franisco won the heat, with Tom Juban close behind in second place. Tato performed well and Oscar came in fourth.
The day finished with heat 13. Camile Juban made a Goiter and Taka on the same wave proving ability to diversity the wave maneuvers and won first place. Fabrice was also very good with aerials and strong bottom turns placing second. Contest ran through the sunset with a strong moon rising on the horizon. More excitement to come tomorrow.
