4th Annual Fuerteventura Wave Classic

Mar 14, 2012

The 4th edition of the Fuerteventura Wave Classic is just around the corner. From March 17-23 some of the best wave sailors will come together to ride the best waves at the North Shore of Fuerteventura. The contest will see four teams, each containing of 3 men and 1 woman, competing against each other in the best possible conditions. The teams will judge each other and will also choose the winning team.

The event will keep its mobile structure to be ready to attack the different spots, which are all lined up along the north and northeast of Fuerteventura. The riders will stay at the Oasis Papagayo Hotel in Corralejo and every morning, after a spot-check, the riders will decide depending on the conditions about the best option for the event and meet there.

The weatherforecast is looking promising and Orlando Lavandera, the organizer is looking forward to the event:

"A year has passed and we are already with the final touches for the fourth edition of the Fuerteventura Wave Classic event. It has been a difficult year in terms of finding sponsors, so first thing will have to be a big thank you to our sponsors which make this event possible. We are also lucky that the whole windsurfing business network of the north of Fuerteventura supports the event and the local commerce is behind us. Add all that to the great group of sailors coming to Fuerte, the same team of photographers and media crew of the last edition and we are all in for a treat. Forecast is already looking promising, the Red Bull jet ski is in the harbor waiting, the Fuerteventura wave classic t-shirt is in the shops and riders start arriving in a couple of days to Fuerte so keep your eyes on the websites to follow the event and if you happen to be in the island come and see us to the beach..we have lots of stuff to give away." —Orlando Lavandera
